Rødovre FC from Denmark and SC Vitkovice from the Czech Republic met Saturday night to decide the place as the fifth best team at the EuroFloorball Cup 2009. Vitkovice quite easily took that spot through a 5-0 victory.

Vitkovice went into the match as favorites, and immediately took the initiative in the match, with Rødovre starting out in a tight defensive lineup. After four minutes a 2-minute penalty was given to Rødovre, and the Czech’s took advantage of the situation and clinched the first goal of the match. After 11 minutes Vitkovice even scored in spite of being one man down, because of a 2-minute penalty. The goal was scored by Turkka Lehtinen. However Rødovre stood their ground the rest of the period and denied the Czech’s from scoring again.

The second period continued in the same style of play. Vitkovice dominated the game while Rødovre fought with everything they had. A 2-minute penalty to Rødovre resulted in 3-0, as Petr Kolos smashed the ball into the high corner of the goal, with no chance for keeper Mike Trolle. Two further goals were scored by Vitkovice. Firstly by Martin Tokos and secondly by Pavel Brus. Towards the end of the period Rødovre got to establish their offensive a bit, but the Czech’s denied them from scoring.

In the 3rd period the Danes kept on fighting their hearts out, resulting in no Czech goals at all. Mike Trolle in the Danish goal saved one shot after another and performed at a very high level. As the Danes kept on fighting, deflecting shots and taking hits, the Czech’s slowed down their attack pace resulting in no goals in the final period.

Goalkeeper Mike Trolle was awarded Rødovre’s man of the match, and Pavel Brus was nominated as man of the match of the Vitkovice team. Vitkovice thereby secured the spot as the 5th best team at the Euro Floorball Cup 2009.
